NOBEEP is a Sudbury-based not-for-profit that provides assistance to Black entrepreneurs and business owners.

The Northern Ontario Black Economic Empowerment Program (NOBEEP) is hosting a half-day symposium designed to guide immigrants in building successful businesses in Canada.

Being held virtually, the Northern Ontario Business Growth Symposium is scheduled to take place on Nov. 29, and will be broken up into two sessions.

The first session, held in English, will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. The second session, held in French, will take place from 1:35 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

According to NOBEEP, “participants will gain insights and practical tools in three core areas: understanding the Canadian financial system, mastering essential business financial practices, and creating effective marketing strategies to reach and engage customers.”

Topics will include:

  • Understanding the Canadian Financial System: A Guide for New Immigrants
  • Financial Fundamentals for Entrepreneurs: From Budgeting to Business Statements
  • Effective Marketing for Entrepreneurs: Reaching Your Customers and Addressing Their Emotional Pain Points

It’s open to anyone who wishes to attend, and registration is free. Participants can sign up for tickets here.

Launched in 2022, NOBEEP is an initiative managed by the Afro-Heritage Association of Sudbury.

Its mandate is to provide culturally appropriate support to Black entrepreneurs and business owners in order to address the gaps in the Northern Ontario entrepreneurship ecosystem.
