For the last two years, NOBEEP has operated out of office space at 73 Elm Street location in downtown Sudbury.

The Northern Ontario Black Economic Empowerment Program (NOBEEP) has transitioned to a virtual service model, effective Feb. 1.

Launched in 2022 with $1.15 million funding from FedNor, NOBEEP provides culturally appropriate support to Black entrepreneurs and business owners across Northern Ontario. That can mean helping entrepreneurs develop a business plan, navigate the legalities of owning a business, create a marketing plan, and more.

The FedNor funding had, until now, enabled the organization to operate out of office space in downtown Sudbury.

In a statement, Charles Chamirai Nyabeze, NOBEEP’s executive director, was upbeat about the switch.

“This shift will allow us to better allocate resources toward serving our clients while leveraging digital platforms to expand our reach across Northern Ontario,” Nyabeze said.

“Although our physical office will close, our commitment to supporting our clients and community remains stronger than ever.”

Nyabeze said the organization would shortly be launching a new customer relationship management system, which would “enhance our ability to engage with our community and clients, ensuring better continuity in discussions and services.”
