The Town of Manitouwadge will host a Teeny Tiny Summit April 29, which will examine practical economic development solutions for small communities.

The Township of Manitouwadge will play host to a Teeny Tiny Summit this spring, with the day-long event expected to address challenges and offer practical economic development solutions facing small communities.

Scheduled to take place April 29, the event is part of the 2025 Teeny Tiny Summit series themed ‘Engage and Energize – Empowering Teeny Tiny Places.’ Other sessions in the series will take place in Picton May 1 and Strathroy – Caradoc June 17.

The Manitouwadge event will feature a keynote address from Peter Kenyon, a community enthusiast and social capitalist from the organization Bank of IDEAS based in Perth, Australia.

His talk is expected to cover topics including:

  • continually developing proactive and shared leadership around the six key functions of leadership;
  • building a positive community mindset focused on positivity and a can-do attitude;
  • cultivating healthy community-building practices that strengthen community ownership, engagement, and collaborative actions; and
  • implementing initiatives that support a vibrant and enterprising local economy, diverse employment opportunities and local economic ownership.

The event is geared toward entrepreneurs, community leaders, and rural volunteers, and registration is now open.

Launched in 2016, the Teeny Tiny Summits program is an initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs, in partnership with the Rural Ontario Municipal Association.
