Christy Marinig, the long-time CEO of the Timmins Economic Development Corp. (TEDC), has announced her retirement.

Marinig, who has worked for the economic development organization for three decades, was celebrated in a social media post by the organization on Dec. 21.

“Your leadership, positivity, and can-do attitude have been a driving force behind our community's growth and economic success,” the TEDC said upon making the announcement.

“We'll miss your infectious humour and the unwavering determination you brought to every challenge.”

Marinig holds an MBA, specializing in executive management, along with certification in project management, management consulting, and economic development.

Among the projects she’s led are attracting Timmins’ first call centre and developing the industrial rail park that hosts anchor tenant INEOS Calabrian.

Marinig was a founding member of NEOnet, the region’s communication technology organization, and has contributed her time to a number of local committees.

The TEDC is Timmins’ non-profit community economic development team. Its mandate involves facilitating and supporting economic and social activity that creates jobs, diversifies the economy and improves quality of life.
