The Anishinabek Nation is holding its second annual Economic Development Opportunities Forum Oct. 21-23, hosted by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation.
Over three days, the event will include keynote presentations from Anishinaabe leadership, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities on key topics including resource development, business growth, and innovation.
Guest speakers will include John Beaucage, a respected First Nation leader and former Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief, and Gary “Litefoot” Davis, an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and a pioneering force in the Indigenous community with a distinguished career in arts, entertainment, and business leadership.
This marks the second year for the forum. Last year, the event was held in Sault Ste. Marie (Bawating).
The event included keynote presentations from Dawn Madahbee, general manager of the Waubetek Business Development Corp., and Anthony Laforge, lands manager with Wahnapitae First Nation.
The Anishinabek Nation is a political advocate for 39 member First Nations across Ontario, representing approximately 65,000 citizens. The Anishinabek Nation is the oldest political organization in Ontario and can trace its roots back to the Confederacy of Three Fires, which existed long before European contact.
