Thunder Bay's Fitzpatrick & Partners LLP is merging with Meyers Norris Penny (MNP) LLP of Winnipeg, one of Canada's largest accounting firms.

Effective Feb. 1, Fitzpatrick & Partners will begin operating under the MNP name.
In a Nov. 26 press release, MNP CEO Daryl Ritchie said the addition allow them to “expand our reach into northwestern Ontario and better serve the needs of businesses in the region.”

With offices in Kenora and Red Lake, MNP is in acquisition mode to expand across Ontario.

Fitzpatrick & Partners managing partner Paul Fitzpatrick said changing market conditions are changing the way companies must operate.

“This merger is a perfect example of how two firms can come together to provide more resources and enhanced services to give our clients the edge they need to stay competitive and overcome current business challenges.”

Fitzpatrick & Partners started in 1992 by Fitzpatrick and Rick Trochimchuk. It began with six employees and has expanded to more than 25 with six partners.
